Troubleshooting Plugin Issues

If your site goes down and you can’t access your WordPress admin dashboard, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Access File Manager or FTP:

1. Log in to your hosting cPanel or connect via FTP.
2. Navigate to the root directory of your WordPress installation.
3. Open the wp-content folder.

Step 2: Rename the Problem-Causing Plugin:

1. If you know the problematic plugin, right-click on the plugin folder, find the plugin and select “Rename” and rename the plugin.
2. Log in to your WordPress dashboard and visit the plugins page. It should work fine now.
3. Contact the developer of the problematic plugin to report the issue and seek resolution.

Step 3: Identify the Problematic Plugin:

1. If you’re unsure which plugin is causing the issue, rename the entire “plugins” folder.
2. Log in to your WordPress dashboard. This will deactivate all plugins.
3. Rename the “plugins” folder back to its original name.
4. In the WordPress dashboard, navigate to the “Plugins” page, and activate plugins one at a time.
5. After activating each plugin, check if the issue reoccurs. The last activated plugin before the issue reappears is likely the culprit.
